*grits teeth*

Noah's ark is literally happening in NW DC the rain is pouring so heavy and it's flooding and I'm in the metro station with literally like fifty other people and it's thundering and lightning-ing and it's frightening and I'm soaked and I can barely see and just this is really bloody terrible I don't wike this

Note: apparently the livejournal app doesn't support replying to people's comments. badly_knitted my comment on this was for you.

Side note: this app is just generally terrible.

Second edit: it supports that, I just figured it out. But I'm gonna wait a while - my dad has texted me and said he feels safe enough driving that he'll come pick me up so I'm going to be saved woo fricking hoo

*hugs* You'll be okay, storms are scary to be out in, but the rain will stop, and so will the thunder and lightning. Try to think of somrething nice.

Rain like that is crazy. On vacation in the North of England many years ago, we took the train up to Edinborough for a day of sightseeing. It poured with rain the entire time, the streets were like rivers, we could barely see where we were going and definitely didn't see any sights. The castle was invisible so we spent the day dashing from shop to shop. Complete waste of a day. that was almost 40 years ago, but it made a big impression, never forgotten it, lol!

Glad your dad could rescue you!

NGL the first thing I thought glancing at this was "lots of planets have a north"

on that note

that sounds awful! did you at least get in some shopping?

hehe, that's actually one of the things we're working on him not doing! because he has such a tendency to rescue me when things go sideways. but this time was a good time for him doing it!!

We all need the occasional rescue, it should just be reserved for when it's really necessary.

Yes, and the North of England would suit the Doctor ;)

A bit, but just souvenirs - postcards of all the sights we couldn't actually see because of the rain, a few Scottish themed bits and pieces, nothing extravagant. We had several hours to kill before getting the train back and the rain didn't let up at all. The rest of the vacation was better.

It would suit him, wouldn't it? Ha.

Trinkets are always good, little perhaps sentimental things sometimes. Just don't have way too many like me because they will go EVERYWHERE and I'm going to bet you've learned that already but just in case you needed confirmation or smth...

This house is packed with sentimental items, mementoes, souvenirs... I've always lived here, I was born in this house, so stuff has really accumulated. Books, records, CDs, craft supplies, crystals, trinkets and ornaments ... And now I'm facing the task of getting everything out of the two storage units we've been renting for the past four years. we had to stick a ton of stuff in storage while we had the house re-wired and new windows fitted, but then we never got the rest of the junk cleared out do everything stayed in storage and some of my books got destroyed by a leak =(

Oh, wow. An entire lifetime is a long time to live in one house! Sorry about your books :(

Thanks. I hate books being damaged - I'm definitely a book person - but to have them completely destroyed was soul destroying, Some were mum's, which was worse because they were old and irreplaceable.

This house is the only home I've ever known, so I plan to stay here until I can't look after myself anymore. It's full of memories =)

That's terrible (about your books - I'd certainly be crushed) and lovely about your house :)

It's not a great house, but the memories and the neighbours make up for that. And the honeysuckle rambling over everything and filling the garden with its scent. And the wild birds, and the newts in the pond, and all the plants I've grown and planted over the years...

True, true. Working on it.

Actually, since I've stopped, I'm thinking about how to organize my shop for buy_cards :)

There are a couple women down here I've been talking to a bit so that's been helping some.

I've been sitting though and now I'm all gross ugh...
