Answer for question 4298.

For the writers out there -- have you ever had a story in your head for a while (sometimes years) but just can't get going on it? What are your tips for dealing with this type of writer's block?
Lord, have I had this happen...for ones that I can't really find a way to materialize, I'll just jot down bits of it, you know, whatever plot lines, character info, dramatic monologues, come to me. If I really want to start writing it, I'll tend to start getting into works that are similar.
But I don't know that I've ever actually fleshed out any of the stories I've had in my head for years. Most of them are just still there, in archived thoughts and old journal entries. If the inspiration comes to me, I'll write something about it, but I am always writing things, and always writing new things, so I don't tend to stay on one story for long.
That totally doesn't help, but that's my two cents.
